Responsibilities

As a Hydrologist and Surface Water Specialist within the Washington Water Science Center (WA WSC), some of your specific duties will include:

• Serving as a quality assurance specialist with expertise in Hydrologic Data and Data Management.
• Evaluating and ensuring the quality of WA WSC data and data products and developing the workflow and review processes needed to ensure that those data and products are of highest scientific quality.
• Applying and developing quality assurance reviews and project workflow processes needed to ensure that WA WSC data and data products are of highest scientific quality.
• Conduct seminars and training sessions on methods, techniques, and study results for data management and data products.
• Serving as Project Chief for WA WSC programs and projects, including day-to- day management of large, complex projects that are large basin, statewide, or regional in scope and sensitive or controversial in nature.
• Operates a government owned or leased vehicle as an incidental driver.

Physical Demands: Field work regularly requires frequent physical exertion to inspect ongoing operations, including walking over rough, rocky, or uneven terrain; lifting and carrying equipment and supplies; and wading streams in all types of weather.

Work Environment: The work regularly involves moderate risks or discomforts associated with visiting field sites with limited access, under adverse weather or flooding conditions, or exposure to irritant or toxic chemicals using the appropriate safety procedures and equipment. Work may require the use of special clothing or gear such as masks, coats, boots, goggles, respirators, life jackets, or other safety gear.
