Job Description

This person is responsible to develop, manage and supervise the Hood River program located in Parkdale, Oregon.  It is one of four programs within the fisheries department.  The Hood River program consists of overseeing a hatchery that produces 200,000 spring Chinook smolts annually.  A robust research and monitoring project evaluating adult and juvenile spring Chinook and winter Steelhead and tribal harvest management in Hood River.  The program also has a well funded habitat contract that works cooperatively with the local watershed council and the soil and water conservation district.  It also works with the forest service and private land owners by implementing on the ground large wood and riparian restoration projects.  The program supervisor will be responsible for the oversight and operations of 8-10 staff, the Parkdale office and the Parkdale hatchery.  The program supervisor reports to the fisheries department manager.

Requirements

Masters of Science degree in fisheries Biology, management or other closely related field with five years of experience of increasing responsibility.  A bachelor’s of science degree in fish biology or a closely related field and seven years of professional experience would also be acceptable.  Two years of supervisory experience and budget administration is also required.
Also requires a valid driver’s license and the ability to be insured.  Must pass a pre-employment drug test.
