GIS Analyst 

Salary: $25-$35+ per hour

Schedule: Regular/Part Time Status 

Flexible Hours: Typically Monday-Friday and minimum 32 hours per week

The South Puget Sound Salmon Enhancement Group (SPSSEG), a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit, has a position open for a Regular/Part Time GIS Restoration Analyst. Position Summary: The GIS Restoration Analyst supports SPSSEG’s mission by working on planning, monitoring, and restoration projects. The work will be split between the field (~50%) and office (~50%). The position may include long hours during the field seasons which are typically July – October.

 

Typical Duties Include:

  • GIS mapping and technical support
  • Collect and manage data
  • Oversee LiDar data analysis and ecological data sets
  • Provide staff support for habitat projects
  • Manage data for habitat surveys, fish sampling, and snorkel surveys
  • Collaboration and data coordination with staff and multiple project partners
  • Regular data reporting to project management team
  • Other tasks as needed

 

Qualifications:

  • Minimum education: A degree in GIS field with at least 1+ years of professional experience is desired
  • Strong team leader with proven ability to motivate others
  • Ability to work remotely and in-office
  • Organized, self-motivated and strong attention to detail
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities
  • Diplomatic problem solving skills
  • Good natured team player, comfortable working with diverse groups of people 
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office programs and extensive experience using ArcGIS Pro, Arc Map, and Pix4D
  • Ability to perform physical labor in all weather conditions including hiking up streams, planting trees, wading through moving water, and carrying equipment into the field
  • Access to personal vehicle and ability to travel (reimbursed for mileage at the current WA State rate)
  • Experience doing field work, GIS collection, modelling, and processing data
  • Passion for salmon and working with non-profits
