The Resource Conservation District (RCD) of Greater San Diego County aims to protect, conserve, and restore natural resources through information, education, and technical assistance. We work across the majority of San Diego County on a variety of programs, including fire prevention and education, watershed education, school garden
support, promotion of pollinator habitat, management of two large community gardens and Wild Willow Farm.

Wild Willow Farm is a regenerative, educational farm located in San Diego’s South Bay. The farm provides educational experiences that inspire people to connect to food, land, and each other. The farm’s education programs include workshops, courses, a farming internship, a field trip and group activities program, and public volunteering.

We are seeking a Farm Education Coordinator who is passionate about teaching children and people of all ages about the benefits of sustainable farming and land stewardship. The primary responsibility of this position is to coordinate the farm’s Field Trip Program, which offers hands-on educational experiences about food growing and farm biodiversity. Field trips are available to groups ages four and up. Most field trips are for schools, camps, scout groups, home school groups, and college students. Field trips typically include four separate rotations of the farm and may also include a nature walk. The Farm Education Coordinator also coordinates farm experiences with adult groups (often a farm tour or activity), public events, and public volunteering days.

Position responsibilities:

  • Serve as the point of contact for the field trip program: Respond to field trip application queries in a timely manner and work with groups to book their trips; send confirmation email and paperwork; confirm field trip details, including desired rotations; greet group upon arrival; collect waivers and payments; and lead field trips.

  • Serve as the point of contact for adult groups that wish to visit the farm for educational experiences. Communicate pricing structure, options for activities, support the registration process, and lead activities on the day of the visit.
  • With input from farm staff, plan activities for monthly public volunteering mornings. This includes identifying tasks needed on the farm, greeting volunteers upon arrival, splitting them into working groups, and debriefing them on the days’ activities.
  • Ensure the wellbeing of participants and that safety protocols are followed.
  • Attend staff meetings and training and development sessions.
