Responsibilities
- Provides oversight during initial and extended attack fires.
- Assigns missions to ground and aviation wildland fire suppression resources.
- Monitors weather and fire behavior.
- Participates in development of incident objectives, strategies and tactics.
- Conduct After Action Reviews and offers suggestions for improvement.
- Assists in coordinating local level preparedness reviews.
- Evaluates equipment and personnel needs and develops and prioritized equipment and personnel finding requests.
- Assists in conducting field reconnaissance or proposed prescribed burn units and drafting prescribed burn plans.
- Assists in developing and revising interagency annual operating plans and the unit fire management plan.
- Coordinates wildland fire and aviation related training courses.
- Responsible for the on-the-job safety and health of employees.
- Plans, organizes, and assigns work to subordinates to meet workload accomplishments.
- May exercise delegated supervisory authorities and responsibilities 20% of the time.
