Responsibilities

• Provides oversight during initial and extended attack fires.
• Assigns missions to ground and aviation wildland fire suppression resources.
• Monitors weather and fire behavior.
• Participates in development of incident objectives, strategies and tactics.
• Conduct After Action Reviews and offers suggestions for improvement.
• Assists in coordinating local level preparedness reviews.
• Evaluates equipment and personnel needs and develops and prioritized equipment and personnel finding requests.
• Assists in conducting field reconnaissance or proposed prescribed burn units and drafting prescribed burn plans.
• Assists in developing and revising interagency annual operating plans and the unit fire management plan.
• Coordinates wildland fire and aviation related training courses.
• Responsible for the on-the-job safety and health of employees.
• Plans, organizes, and assigns work to subordinates to meet workload accomplishments.
• May exercise delegated supervisory authorities and responsibilities 20% of the time.
