Fire Planner – NRS2 (Limited Duration/Job Rotation) Prineville, Central Point
Job Description:
Are you looking for an exciting opportunity to join a team with a strong workplace culture of support and camaraderie from February 2021 through June 30, 2021? If yes, then this is the position for you!
These positions are currently being offered as either a Limited Duration appointment for anyone to apply OR as a statewide Job Rotation to all permanent, current State of Oregon employees (this is includes regular status and limited duration employees who have completed trial service). State of Oregon job rotations require employer approval.
What will you do?
You will analyze district data to plan and develop a fire prevention program to address district prevention needs. You will work in conjunction with District Fire Protection staff to incorporate the Fire Program Planning and Fire Prevention efforts of the District. Functions for this position generally include: (1) planning and implementation of general and specific fire prevention activities including ignition management planning, (2) development and implementation of special programs to address the needs of the wildland/urban interface situation, (3) hazard and risk determination and assessment, (4) fire cause evaluation and mitigation, (5) District fuels reduction and fire prevention grant application, administration planning, and coordination and (6) organization and coordination of District cooperative agreements.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
Candidates whose demonstrate skills, abilities and/or experience in the following:

Two years of experience in forestry, wildland fire, fire prevention or related natural resource field AND a Bachelor’s degree in forestry, wildland fire, fire prevention or related natural resource field OR Three additional years of related experience. Note: A Master’s degree in any of the above disciplines will count towards one year of the required experience.

Competent in fuel modeling and analysis of computer generated fire behavior models

Technical writing skills

Able to work extended periods of time with infrequent days off
