DNR is looking for a Fire Cost Data & Reporting Coordinator in the Incident Business Section to collaborate with other agency staff to prepare Fire Suppression Costs, Projections, and Trends. In addition, you will get to collaborate with other staff to develop and conduct trainings related to fire cost data collection and reporting processes.  track cost data and prepare reports for Wildfire Suppression costs. In addition, you will collaborate with other agencies.

 

Duties

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare Reports for Fire Suppression Costs that Analyze and Forecast statewide Fire Suppression Expenditures, Projections, and Historical References and Spending Trends to Program Leadership, Agency Management, the Office of Financial Management, and Legislative Staff.
  • Assist with the development of Supplemental Budget and Legislative/OFM Requests.
  • Serve as the agency subject matter expert for data maintained in the Fire Cost Tracking System (FCTS), and develop users’ manuals and Standard Operating procedures for use of the system by Fire Fiscal staff.
  • Serve as agency Subject Matter expert for FEMA FMAG and Public Assistance (PA) Claims.
  • Participate on the Interagency Committee and serve as Proxy for Incident Business Manager in their absence.

 

Qualifications

Required Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree with 18 quarter or 12 semester hours in accounting or related field,
    AND a minimum of four years of professional-level accounting experience;
    OR a combination of education and/or experience equaling four years or more may substitute for a degree, but not the credits.  The education must include a minimum of at least 18 quarter or 12 semester hours of college-level accounting or related field.
  • Experience applying accounting principles with experience in data analysis.
  • Experience and proficiency using computers and computer systems, including, but not limited to, Microsoft Office Excel and Word.
  • Experience analyzing and reconciling financial reports.
  • Demonstrated commitment to fostering and supporting an environment that honors diversity, equity, inclusion, and environmental justice practices.
  • Perform assigned duties in a manner consistent with applicable laws, regulations and public records retention and requests are followed.
  • Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles.
  • Ability to be focused and to prioritize work to meet inflexible deadlines while dealing with constant interruptions.
  • Ability to maintain high levels of accuracy with a heavy workload applying attention to detail in everyday tasks.
  • Consistent ability to effectively and respectfully communicate with co-workers and diverse clientele.

Special Requirements and Conditions of Employment:
  • Working Setting: The majority of the work is performed indoors in an office setting.
  • Travel Requirements: Infrequent travel to region offices, and to attend workshops and trainings is required.
Desired Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of state accounting and fiscal processes for wildland fire suppression.
  • Knowledge of DNR Monthly Fire Suppression Report preparation.
  • Experience with AFRS and Datamart Reports.
  • Experience working in eIsuite, IROC, and Fire Cost Tracking Systems.
  • Advanced experience and proficiency using Microsoft Office Excel & Word.
  • Experience conducting trainings and creating user manuals.
  • Qualified as Equipment Time Report, Personnel Time Record, and/or Cost Unit Leader.
