The Environmental Technician will focus on conducting habitat restoration work including:
- Woodland Habitat Restoration: Conduct invasive plant species treatment and removal activities. Activities will be focus on buckthorn removal in a woodland setting. This will include the use of mechanical clippers, motorized brush cutters, and spot spraying backpacks for herbicide application.
- Oak Savannah restoration: Spot spraying and seeding activities.
- Support restoration efforts on culturally significant sites.
- Remote work is also available if interested. Remote work would focus on developing cultural and medicinal plant books and developing GIS maps for an integrated invasive species management plan.
Hours & Travel
30-40 hours per week for 2 months (October – November). It is important to note that this will be field work within Native American Tribal communities near Redwood Falls, Minnesota (25% of the time) and near Granite Falls, Minnesota (75% of the time).
$17/hr. No health benefits.
Lodging in a hotel will be provided for those traveling further than a 1 hour drive away.
