Environmental Planner/Coordinator
POWER Engineers’ Environmental Division provides planning, permitting, engineering, site assessment and corrective action services to clients worldwide. Across multiple industries, our diverse staff specialize in the areas of air, water, waste, ecological and cultural resources throughout our 45 offices located across the country and internationally.
We are seeking a highly motivated Environmental Planner/Coordinator for full-time employment in support of our Western Environmental Services Project Management and Planning Group. The selected candidates would join a team of more than 230 environmental professionals across the U.S. The position may be located in any one of the following POWER offices:
Denver, CO
Salt Lake City, UT
Boise, ID
Portland, OR
Roles and Responsibilities
- Prepare and review technical writing of environmental planning and analysis documents
- Prepare and review Clean Water Act Permits, Section 401 and 404, or other permit applications
- Prepare and assist with local zoning or permit applications
- Assist senior staff with project controls, team coordination, budget, and forecasting
- Prepare proposals and cost estimates for business development efforts
- Lead internal and external staff and project coordination meetings
- Prepare and review project schedules and milestones
- Interface with internal and external project managers/staff, clients, and sub-contractors
- Research local, state, and federal permitting requirements
- Manage multiple projects at various stages, disciplines, and locations
- Perform other duties as assigned
This position will often require extended hours to accomplish assigned tasks to meet requirements and schedules. Applicants must have the ability to attend and participate in open house and public meeting environments and willingness to travel up to 35% for site visits and client meetings.
Required Education/Experience
- BS degree in Environmental Planning, Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Urban Planning, Landscape Architectural, or related degree
- Three to eight (3-8) years of experience
- Direct experience in linear infrastructure planning. Siting and routing linear infrastructure, including transmission lines and gas pipelines
- Knowledge and interest in federal, state, and local environmental policy and regulation
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team and collaborative environment, both internally and with clients
- Ability to travel, up to 35% of the time
- Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel
- Self-starter willing to tackle a variety of tasks simultaneously
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Preferred Education/Experience
- Proficiency with ESRI ArcGIS, and Adobe Creative Suite computer applications is desired.
