JOB DESCRIPTION: 

  • Plan, develop, and implement environmental education communication and outreach initiatives.
  • Develop, implement, and oversee environmental outreach plans, covering a wide variety of environmental topics: energy, water, waste, air, training lands and endangered species.
  • Conduct presentations to a diverse audience of active duty service members, their families, various groups and organizations.
  • Support mission areas/directorates, with communication, education to support compliance with Washington State and Federal regulations.
  • Oversee development of all educational/outreach materials for a specific program, resolving and establishing a community outreach strategy, working collaboratively with various stakeholders.
  • Develop and update outreach products, news articles, flyers, brochures, posters and presentations.
  • Develop, implement maintain, and monitor social media and environmental website.
  • Maintain a calendar of outreach activities, including community special events, appearances, and other opportunistic outreach events for the JBLM Community.
  • Collaborate with JBLM community, regional stakeholders, and partners to support all of the JBLM environmental sustainability goals
  • Engagement or coordination of surveys, media articles, group/individual presentations, special events, and other publicity.

JOB REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Two years of applicable experience involving environmental analysis, environmental planning, environmental education, community outreach or communications activities and conflict resolution or equivalent education education/experience.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, Excel, Publisher, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong written communication, public speaking, presentations required.
  • Strong knowledge of social media and other basic marketing platforms.
  • Skilled in translating complex information to a diverse audience.
  • Detail orientated with the ability to manage multiple projects at a time and comfortable with meeting deadlines.
  • Knowledge of DoD preferred.
  • Motivated, outgoing self-starters requested.
  • Must be able to successfully pass a federal agency background investigation.
