Key Requirements:

Special Physical Requirements:

• Work is performed at a desk, walking, standing, bending, carrying light to medium objects, and in austere conditions.
• Work may take place in undesirable conditions that include exposure to excessive heat, unhealthy environments, and extended hours.
• Housing accommodations may be limited and require stays in temporary structures without electricity.

Duties:

• Review and implement Executive Orders 11988: Floodplains and 11990: Wetlands, environmental and historic preservation laws, other executive orders, regulations, standards, policies, guidelines for FEMA funded activities, and the 8-step review process.

• Determines the applicable level of National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) review and prepares related documents.

• Serves as a technical specialist on floodplains and wetlands, providing advice and assistance to FEMA program staff, state emergency management staff, Tribal, state, local governments, and eligible private non-profit entities for development, execution, and monitoring of environmental and historic preservation requirements.

• Performs or oversees program administration work, such as technical project monitoring and evaluations, to meet environmental and historic preservation responsibilities.

• Analyzes a wide range of environmental and floodplain, scientific, technical, management, engineering, socio- economic, and legal issues.

Other Information:

• All candidates must be able to deploy with little or no notice to anywhere in the United States and its territories for an extended period of time. Deployments may include working more than eight hours a day, or more than 40 hours in a given week, including weekends and holidays, and under stressful, physically demanding, and austere conditions. When activated and deployed, you serve in a federal travel status and are entitled to lodging, transportation and per diem reimbursements for authorized expenses in accordance with federal travel regulations.

• All candidates must be available to deploy at all times during the term of this appointment unless pre-approved through authorized Reservist leave. Reservists may take up to 90 days of unpaid Reservist Leave per year.

Pay: $58,535.00 – $89,712.00 per year
