Seattle Iron & Metals, Corp. has an opening for an experienced full-time Environmental Compliance Specialist.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Environmental Compliance Specialist will work under the direction of management to assure compliance with environmental regulations. The Compliance Specialist will interface with customers, staff, and regulators and will determine applicable regulations pertaining to operations, and implement and, if needed, develop internal programs, coordinate monitoring events, complete site inspections, complete permit-required agency reports or documents, and interface with regulators.

Minimum Requirements and Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, or related discipline.
  • 7-10 years of experience in environmental compliance.
  • Strong knowledge of both Federal and Washington environmental regulations pertaining to industrial operations, including industrial wastewater and stormwater, solid waste, dangerous waste, spill control, air emissions, and hazardous materials storage.
  • Experience in environmental compliance management preferred.
  • Experience with media sampling including stormwater, waste, and wastewater.
  • CHMM, CESCL, or PE preferred but not required

Responsibilities

  • Oversee on- site operations in the context of environmental regulations and applicable permits.
  • Develop and maintain productive and collaborative relationships with both staff and regulators.
  • Manage projects and project budgeting.
  • Coordinate and oversee staff, outside contractors, and vendors for assigned projects.
  • Compile data for various regulatory and other reports.
  • Comply with industry health and safety policies.
  • Demonstrate strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Communicate effectively with peers and regulators.
  • Demonstrate strong written, verbal, and computer skills.
