Salary- $62,748.00 – $93,132.00
Among the varied range of responsibilities held within this role, the Endangered Species Act Liaison will:
- Independently serve as a technical specialist for NMFS/USFWS in reviewing and assessing impacts of transportation projects on threatened and endangered species.
- Serve as the NMFS and USFWS lead and primary author of biological opinions, letters of concurrence, and programmatic approvals.
- Provide technical assistance to WSDOT project staff during the early coordination, development of biological assessments and other submittals, project updates, and consultation re-initiations.
- Calculate areas, volumes, depths, totals, and percentages.
- Attend meetings in the office and occasional field or site visits on uneven terrain and sometimes in inclement weather.
- Move through water, mud and/or uneven terrain while carrying field gear and accurately collecting data.
- Navigate and complete field work using a GPS, range finder clinometer, binoculars, and other related field equipment.
- Work independently and cooperatively with multiple teams to complete assigned tasks.
- Proactively identify and communicate transportation project environmental compliance and schedule risks.
- Identify and coordinate transportation business efficiencies in the environmental regulatory process.
- Help WSDOT continuously improve environmental compliance decision-making and best practices through collaboration and training.
