Salary- $46,644.00 – $61,224.00

Experience for both required and desired qualifications can be gained through various combinations of formal professional employment, educational and volunteer experience. See below for how you may qualify.

The goal class for this position is an Environmental Specialist 3  (ES3). We will consider applicants who meet the requirements for the Environmental Specialist 1, 2 & 3 levels. If the finalist meets the requirements for the ES1 or the ES2 level, then they will be placed into a training program to become an ES3 within a specified period of time.

At the Environmental Specialist 1 level: Salary Range 38: (2,999-3,887 Monthly)

A total of Four (4) years of experience and/or education as described below.

  • Professional level experience in: Environmental analysis or control, or environmental planning which may include:
  • Environmental sample/data collection, collation, processing, or assembly for analysis or reporting. Plan, conduct, and/or develop report for monitoring, cleanup,  or other environmental project.
  • Education: involving a major study in environmental, physical, or one of the natural sciences, environmental planning or other allied field.

A total of Five (5) years of experience and/or education as described below.

  • Professional level experience in: Environmental analysis or control, or environmental planning.
  • Environmental sample/data collection, collation, processing, or assembly for analysis or reporting. Plan, conduct, and/or develop report for monitoring, cleanup,  or other environmental project.
  • Education: involving a major study in environmental, physical, or one of the natural sciences, environmental planning or other allied field.

A total of Six (6) years of experience and/or education as described below.

  • Professional level experience in: Environmental analysis or control, or environmental planning.
  • Environmental sample/data collection, collation, processing, or assembly for analysis or reporting. Plan, conduct, and/or develop report for monitoring, cleanup,  or other environmental project.
  • Education: involving a major study in environmental, physical, or one of the natural sciences, environmental planning or other allied field.

Desired Qualifications:
We highly encourage you to apply even if you do not have some (or all) of the desired experience below.

  • One year of the work experience in an air quality field which may include: Demonstrated understanding of air quality pollutants and their sources, and experience with air quality emissions inventories and knowledge of regulations pertaining to them.
  • Previous experience handling large amounts of data efficiently; proficient with spreadsheet and database software packages.
  • Previous experience with computer scripts using a scriptable software package such as R or Python to perform complex calculations, change data formats, and process large amounts of data.
