Position Summary

The Development Manager is a new position at EarthGen and will be essential in helping to grow philanthropic support for our mission. They will work collaboratively and creatively with the Director of Advancement and Communications Manager to expand EarthGen’s community of donors and supporters and position the organization for long-term growth.

The ideal candidate will have excellent written and interpersonal communication skills and a strong understanding of community-centric fundraising. They will have the capacity to create trusting, positive relationships with donors and partners and be skilled at developing and executing fundraising and stewardship events and activities. A passion for the mission of EarthGen and a commitment to racial equity are essential. The Development Manager will report to the Director of Advancement. Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Fund Development & Donor Relations:

  • Manage a portfolio of base and mid-level individual donors ($1-$999), including creating moves management plans for current and prospective donors.
  • Craft and deliver fundraising communications and storytelling campaigns that center the communities we serve and engage our donors.
  • Manage 2-3 annual fundraising campaigns, including developing appeal letters, emails, and social media posts.
  • Support fundraising and stewardship events and activities, including managing the annual fundraiser.
  • Coordinate and support the corporate sponsorship program.
  • Implement donor acknowledgment processes, including donation receipts, thank you calls, and letters.
  • Assist with writing grant proposals and donor impact reports.

Database Management:

  • Ensure donor database records are maintained and accurate. 
  • Oversee gift entry and generate donor acknowledgment letters.  
  • Manage queries, reports, and dashboards required to support a data-driven fundraising strategy and monitor progress on an ongoing basis.

Required Qualifications

  • Passion for EarthGen’s mission and a commitment to equity and environmental justice.
  • 2+ years of development or communications experience in a nonprofit, education, or public service environment.
  • Proven ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects at the same time; excellent time management skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and comfort interacting with donors, partners, and new friends of the organization.
  • Excellent written communication skills in a range of contexts.
  • An energetic, flexible, collaborative, supportive, and proactive approach to work.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with donor databases, Salesforce or Little Green Light a plus.
  • Demonstrated experience seeking out and cultivating relationships that lead to increased funding and/or engagement.
  • Bachelor’s degree in education, environmental studies, communications or another relevant field.

Compensation

The Development Manager is a full-time, salaried position. (We are open to this position being part-time for the right candidate.) Some flexibility around work hours will be required, including occasional evenings and weekends.The salary range is $52,000-$55,000 per year, depending on experience, plus full benefits (medical/dental/vision, 403b retirement plan). Time off includes 10 paid holidays, seven Sick and Safe Leave days, and 20 vacation days in the first year.

EarthGen is committed to providing a flexible work environment. Our office is located in the Good Shepherd Center in the Wallingford neighborhood in Seattle, and currently staff work a combination of remote and in-person schedules.
