Development and Communications Manager  (FT or Job Share)

The IF Project is hiring a Development and Communications Manager to join our growing team in the work of actualizing our mission: Together, through the power of storytelling, education and bearing witness, we transform ourselves, our families and our communities to dismantle systemic barriers to end institutionalized racism and mass incarceration.

IF was founded twelve years ago out of a conversation between a  woman who was experiencing incarceration and a Seattle Police Officer, which included the question, “If there was something someone could have said or done that would have changed the path that led you here, what would it have been?” In the thousands of stories that have been shared with us in response to this question, the threads woven throughout include racism, misogyny, and the trauma of living within broken systems that set marginalized folks up to fail.

On our team, you will directly engage with IF’s work to challenge the status quo, change racist behaviors and systems, work with our elected officials to overhaul our criminal justice system, and ensure that Black, brown and indigenous voices are at every table where this work is getting done.  A deep understanding of systemic racism and a commitment to act for racial justice is essential to this role.

Description:

As Development and Communications Manager, you will collaborate with the Executive Director and others to develop fundraising plans and infrastructure, nurture donor relationships, and grow public awareness and community engagement with our organization.  You will help the E.D. and Board Members develop strong and impactful relationships with donors; secure new gifts and grants; produce our newsletter, social media, and donor appeals; plan special events including our annual fundraising brunch; and be an effective champion of IF’s story and impact in the community, among other responsibilities. Most importantly, you will help us continue to do the work we’ve been doing for over a decade—lifting up the voices and stories of folks affected by incarceration as we walk alongside them on their journeys.
