WHAT WE CAN ACHIEVE TOGETHER
The Conservation Operations Specialist will provide a broad range of resources and support to advance Indigenous and Local Community led conservation. They will manage conservation operations and coordinate several activities related to TNC’s Emerald Edge Program and TNC’s Alaska Chapter including team meetings (creating agendas, materials, notes and assisting with logistics), events management, and procurement. The Conservation Operations Specialist will support in-person and remote gatherings to advance this work through team building, capacity building, and focused project development. They work collaboratively to develop and implement activities and logistics including scheduling, coordination on budget, reporting, calendar management, contract management, file management, and organizing multiple tasks and activities.
The Conservation Operations Specialist will adapt processes and implement recommended practices to improve effectiveness. They will maintain, track, report on and communicate information and act as point of contact for cross functional collaboration. They will keep apprised of TNC initiatives and bring innovative approaches to the team through networking with peers and project members. They will gain advanced knowledge of the TNC systems and resources utilized by the teams including project management software, to provide programmatic support and coordination. They will complete activities with multiple variables, setting realistic deadlines and managing to timelines. They will provide guidance based on extensive knowledge of policies and procedures.
The Conservation Operations Specialist will coordinate with rightsholders and stakeholders and may serve as the lead liaison with Indigenous and local communities, other partners or vendors. They will communicate with staff in various programs across the Conservancy, as well as with donors, volunteers, vendors, and business relations. They will keep up to date on best practices in order to improve team functions.
This position reports to the Alaska Director of Finance and Operations and in close coordination with the Emerald Edge Program Director. The location for this position is Juneau, Alaska. This position requires travel, up to 10%, and work flexible hours as needed.

The starting pay range for a candidate selected for this position is generally within the range of $67,500 to $71,000 for annual base salary for this Juneau, AK location. Where a successful candidate’s actual pay will fall within this range will be based on a variety of factors including, for example, qualifications, specific skills, and experience. Your ability to work in this geographic location will be confirmed during the recruitment.

- Bachelor’s degree and 3 years related experience or equivalent combination.
- Experience generating reports and analyzing and interpreting data.
- Experience managing and implementing multiple projects.
- Experience with business process analysis and/or improvement.
- Experience with current technology in relevant field.
- Experience working with cross-functional and cross-cultural teams.
