Description

The Compliance Analyst is responsible for ensuring adherence with reporting, audits, and verifications under national and sub-national renewable fuel regulations as well as internal policies. To that extent, this role requires attention to detail, ability to multitask and adapt, organization, critical thinking, and effective communication skills. In addition, this role requires understanding of company business model and transactional flow through internal and external systems that drive compliance reporting. Furthermore, this position involves staying up to date with latest regulations to ensure effective communication of compliance reporting and auditing impacts among internal commercial teams, partners, and stakeholders as well as effective management of compliance transactions and systems. While the position focuses on understanding the context and impact of the regulation around compliance processes, this position will also serve other tasks under the direction of Regulatory Manager. 

 

Supply Chain Logistics for Ethanol and Biofuels

 

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Maintain a basic knowledge of the regulations related to reporting, audits, verifications. 
  • Stay up to date with changes to reporting, audits, and verifications from the latest regulations and inform compliance management accordingly. 
  • Lead and manage all aspects of compliance which includes conducting, managing, and overseeing internal and external reporting, audits, and verifications.
  • Develops recommendations to improve reporting, auditing, and verification procedures, to ensure adherence with industry regulations.
  • Informs compliance management of risks that can affect the integrity or results of the reporting data and makes recommendations to resolve risk.
  • Collaborate with compliance team on implementing new regulated programs or changes. 
  • Work collaboratively with Regulatory manager on projects, ideas, and action plans for compliance function enhancements 
  • Communicate with government officials to ensure accurate and timely reporting.
  • Prepare and participate in risk assessments. 
  • Detailed Daily Responsibilities
  • Respond to internal and external compliance inquiries or consult with management on appropriate responses.
  • Conduct, manage, and oversee the organization, scheduling, and sampling documentation of reporting, audits, and verification for all regulated programs.
  • Track and prepare reports on the results of relevant audits and verifications, present these to compliance management, and develop a plan to improve on these, if necessary. 
  • Organize and submit quarterly and annual compliance reports as applicable for all regulated programs.
  • Maintain in an organized manner internal compliance database including records relevant to audits, reports, and other regulatory compliance issues.
  • Keep up-to-date necessary compliance records including SOP documents, reporting deadlines, and report changes.
  • Work collaboratively with other internal teams to support audits, reporting, and annual verifications as needed.
  • Collaborate with business technology, commercial, and contracts teams on system needs, issues, and program implementations.
  • Serve as backup to Regulatory manager.

Requirements

Education/Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in a related field. Equivalent of 3+ years energy experience/3+ years compliance experience or 3+ years of audits and reporting is preferred.
