Thousands of families in Seattle, Portland and Denver love Ridwell and now we’re excited to be looking for a Community Launcher to help us bring new forms of reuse and recycling to Olympia! The Community Launcher will be responsible for building grassroots support for additional forms of reuse and recycling in the Olympia area among community members, interest groups, and category partners. Are you a die-hard Olympian? Are you the kind of person who thrives on social interaction and loves the challenge of creatively solving many different types of problems? Does the idea of bringing a new service loved by thousands in other cities to the Olympia area sound like a cause you can get behind? If so, this is the role for you! We’re looking for an energetic, super organized people-person who is well-versed in community engagement and ready to help us build a foundation of support for Ridwell in Olympia. You will cultivate relationships with new members and community leaders, as well as establish new partnerships with community partners, both in-person and online. This is a short-term (3+ month), part-time (20 hours/week) contractor position starting ASAP, with the possibility to transition into a longer-term role. You must be based in the Olympia metro area and must have reliable transportation. Prior, similar experience in Olympia is a plus. Additionally, this position is not eligible for mileage reimbursement, and is responsible to provide their own equipment (laptop, reliable Wi-Fi access, etc.). Due to business operations, you need to be comfortable spending most of your time out in the field, interfacing with partners, community groups, and Ridwell staff. We follow all local COVID-19 regulations.

    • Currently living and have established roots/connections in Olympia.
    • Experience with community engagement, event planning, social media marketing, social networking, partnership building, guerilla marketing tactics.
    • Independent worker who takes initiative and pride in their work.
    • Grasp what makes our brand special for our members with the ability to articulate that to external stakeholders across scenarios.
    • Willingness to take a hands-on, scrappy, and proactive approach to everything you do.
    • Comfort with ambiguity, willingness to take responsibility and ownership, and proven ability to take initiative and easily adapt in a fast-growing environment.
    • Curiosity and growth mindset that looks at each activity as a chance to learn and improve.
