Salary– $66,420.00 – $87,132.00 Annually

What you will do: 

  • Set communications strategy for major regional projects and initiatives.
  • Respond and provide information to members of the media.
  • Build connections and invest in outreach to media serving the region’s underrepresented cultural and ethnic residents.
  • Make public presentations and assist with public meetings.
  • Prepare agency staff and leadership for public presentations, testimony, media interviews and speaking opportunities.
  • Develop communications, outreach, and public education materials.
  • Continually improve web content to align with agency and federal Title Vi compliance best practices.
  • Manage agency social media accounts.

Qualifications

This is an In Training opportunity: The goal class for this position is a Communications Consultant 5 (CC5). We will consider applicants who meet the requirements for both the CC4 and CC5 levels. If the finalist meets the requirements at the CC4 level, they will be hired as a CC4 and will be placed in a training program to become a CC5 within a specified period of time.

At the Communications Consultant 4 level: Range 56 ($4,777 – $6,260 monthly)

Seven (7) years of experience and/or education.

Experience: which may include, but not limited to, journalism, public relations/information, news media, digital/social media, marketing, digital accessibility or writing/editing.

Education: in journalism, communications, public relations, news media, digital/social media, English, marketing, humanities, or closely allied field.

All experience and education combinations that meet the requirements for this position:

  • Combination 1 | No college credit hours or degree. | 7 years of experience
  • Combination 2 | 30-59 semester or 45-89 quarter credits. | 6 years of experience

  • Combination 4 | 90-119 semester or 135-179 quarter credits. | 4 years of experience
  • Combination 5 | A Bachelor’s Degree. | 3 year of experience
  • Combination 6 | A Master’s Degree. | 1 years of experience

At the Communications Consultant 5 level: Range 62 ($5,535 – $7,261 monthly) 

Eight (8) years of experience and/or education.
