Salary– $4,216.00 – $6,105.00 Monthly

DUTIES

Our Classification & Compensation Specialist,

  • Reviews and analyzes position descriptions when positions are established, changed, updated, or submitted for reallocation. Advises supervisors in updating position descriptions as necessary. Reviews and approves position descriptions in the DocuSign process.
  • Provides guidance to supervisors when developing or changing position descriptions to ensure adherence with state and federal employment laws, WACs, collective bargaining agreements, WDFW policies, and classification specifications.
  • Allocates Washington General Service (WGS) positions. Conducts desk audits as needed.
  • Responds to Directors Review and Personnel Resource Board appeals.
  • Supports HRC4 in the preparation of WDFW classification studies for submission to OFM.
  • Provides guidance to programs regarding pay related HR topics such as Shift Premium, Overtime Eligibility, Exchange Time, EEO Job Category descriptions, and Call-Back, Standby, and Assignment Pay.
  • Evaluates position descriptions to determine Overtime Eligibility using the FLSA criteria.
  • Consults with supervisors and managers to determine proper salary placement while following applicable policies, Collective Bargaining Agreements, WAC’s, and RCWs.
  • Provides communications and guidance on changes to salary schedules.
  • Utilizes HRMS to assist in processing allocations.
  • Actively participates in HR meetings.
  • Updates and prepares reports for the Director of Human Resources in supervisor’s absence.
  • Participate in planning and implementing new human resource programs, policies and procedures and projects.
  • Provides back up for HR Operations as needed.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Work Setting, including hazards:
    • Works in an office setting; fast paced, high volume and confidential environment.
  • Schedule:
    • This position normally works 8:00 am-5:00 pm, Monday-Friday, but may be required to work occasional weekends and evenings, depending on workload.
  • Travel Requirements:
    • Some travel may be required throughout the State to attend training, meetings, and conferences.
  • Tools and Equipment:
    • Computer hardware & software; general office equipment.
  • Customer Interactions:
    • Providing excellent customer service to WDFW’s many programs is integral to Human Resources’ success.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Closely related qualifying experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-by-year basis. 

This position is open to candidates who qualify as a Human Resource Consultant 2 (HRC2) or a Human Resource Consultant 3 (HRC3).  The selected candidate will be placed at the appropriate level depending on how they meet the below qualifications.   

If hired at the HRC2 level, and after successful completion of a twelve (12) month In-Training program as a Human Resource Consultant 2, the incumbent will advance to a Human Resource Consultant 3.
