The Opportunity
WSDOT has an exciting opportunity for two experienced maintenance professionals who have distinct talents in bridge maintenance to serve as the Bridge Maintenance Specialist Lead. We are looking for a Lead worker on night crew and one for the day crew. This position is responsible for scheduling and leading a crew of Bridge Maintenance Specialist in completing repairs to the bridge and tunnel structures throughout NWR. What to Expect
Among the varied range of responsibilities held within this role, the Bridge Maintenance Specialist Lead will:

  • Lead worker for bridge crew completing deck and joint repairs on steel, concrete, timber bridges and other structures throughout the Northwest Region. 
  • Operate trucks to 80,000 GVW, bucket trucks, Ubits, cranes etc.    
  • Oversees and instructs crew members in the repair of bridge structures using techniques such as carpentry, welding, and concrete forming.
  • Ensures the safe and proper use of various types of power tools welding equipment, hydraulic gear and all other maintenance equipment. 
  • Adheres to the use of proper safety gear for self and all crew members.
  • Ability to use all appropriate protective equipment.
  • Interact with the traveling public in a professional and positive manner.
  • Ability to utilize knowledge of rigging for heavy loads and corresponding equipment.

Qualifications
To be considered for this opportunity, the following are required:

  • High school diploma or GED. 
  • Two (2) years of experience in bridge maintenance with additional experience in a related trade such as fabrication, carpentry, electrician, concrete, millwright, or mechanic. 
  • Valid Driver’s license
  • Class A CDL, N endorsement and without air brake restriction

It is preferred that qualified candidates also have:

  • Additional experience in bridge maintenance with additional experience in a related trade such as fabrication, carpentry, electrician, concrete, millwright, or mechanic.
  • Completion of Plans Reading course
  • Flagging certification
