This is a full time, seasonal position for 6 months. Work will occur between from May 1, 2021 – Nov 30, 2021. (These are estimated dates. Start dates are somewhat flexible between May1 and May 15. Job Description:

This position serves as a seasonal Biological Sciences Technician at the USDA, NRCS Corvallis Plant Materials Center. The technician assist with field production and facility operations, and assists the PMC staff in collecting and documenting plant performance of conservation plants to support natural resource conservation programs. The Plant Materials Center develops plant science technology to assist NRCS field offices in conservation of natural resources and farm bill programs. What you will do:

Assist with PMC field, greenhouse, and shadehouse operations, including seeding, irrigation, cultivation, harvesting, and potting. Assists with manual weed control (this includes hand hoeing). Assist with establishment, maintenance, and evaluation of off-center plantings. Clean seed and process plants produced at the PMC. Operate and assist with maintenance and repair of various kinds of farm agricultural equipment Assist with monitoring plantings, harvesting plots, collecting data, and data entry. Assist in the compilation of technical data and information to be used for the development of technical reports, notes and plant guides. Assist PMC staff in conducting PMC tours, training, and other technology transfer activities appropriate to the position. Serves as an incidental motor vehicle operator on public and private roads. A valid state driver’s license is required.
