This position is a Biological Science Tech (Wildlife), GS- 0404-7 working in one of these nine refuges: Willapa NWR, Conboy Lake NWR, Washington Maritime NWRC, Mid-Co River NWR, Cabeza Prieta NWR, Cibola NWR, Shiawassee NWR, Alligator River NWR or Midway Atoll NWR.

Responsibilities

As a Biological Science Tech (Wildlife) your duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Planning and implementation of wildlife and/or plant censuses and surveys.
  • Monitor and assist in control of wildlife, plant disease outbreaks, pest plant control, mowing/seeding activities and vegetation removal.
  • Develop databases and analyzing data using standard statistical methods and procedures.
  • Assist with habitat management activities such as tractor mowing, maintaining/repairing fence to prevent cattle trespass, participating in prescribed burns, etc.
  • Provide work direction and guidance to biological technicians and volunteers and YCC enrollees.

This is a term position expected to last 13 months but may be extended up to a total of 4 years.
