The Nature Conservancy is a global conservation organization dedicated to conserving the lands and waters on which all life depends. Guided by science, our teams create innovative, on-the- ground solutions to our world’s toughest challenges so that nature and people can thrive together. The California Chapter is searching for an Associate Director to lead our broad forest team in delivering scalable restoration and fire management solutions for California’s forests.

Our primary goals are to accelerate and mainstream the restoration of forests in the Sierra Nevada to ensure that they continue to provide habitat, clean water, carbon storage, recreation opportunities and other resources important for the biodiversity and people of California. And in so doing, we aim to reduce the risk of catastrophic, high severity fire to people, property, and ecosystems. The Associate Director will be responsible for working with federal and state land management agencies, water utilities, rural counties, the timber industry, conservation groups, and other TNC chapters to increase the pace and scale of restoration across California and other western states and will be a primary expert representing the Conservancy in the media and other public settings.
