Salary– $65,928.00 – $86,484.00

Our Assistant Environmental Permitting Supervisors, 

Review statewide project permits and requirements. Tasks include:

  • Assist Senior and Executive Management in identifying new policies and regulations, new direction of existing policies and regulations, and significant initiatives.
  • Determine permitting requirements for CAMP assigned projects.
  • Maintain environmental law, regulation, and permit compliance.
  • Work within the Mid-Management Team (MMT) or other identified entities to develop and maintain a consistent state-wide approach to new policies, new direction on existing policies and significant initiatives.
  • Serve as Liaison and Regulation Policy Lead for projects, issues, and processes that are impacted by new or redirected regulation policies or significant initiatives.
  • Serve as lead and conducts strategic analyses concerning agency or externally developed regulation policies, redirected policies, or significant initiatives.
  • Communicate and present strategic analysis information to the Environmental Permitting Manager for coordination with Senior or Executive Management.
  • Work with the Environmental Permitting Manager, Project teams, Program teams, and supervised staff to implement strategic direction by identifying specific actions and using a continuous strategic approach.
  • Act as liaison, assisting the Environmental Permitting Manager to actively engage local, state, or federal agencies and other external entities important to the success of the identified strategic direction.

Provide immediate supervision, direction, and management of associate Environmental Planners in their statewide projects. Tasks include: 

  • Provide guidance, direction, and information to staff regarding Program and Agency policies, procedures, and directions in a clear and timely manner.
  • Work with staff to develop a strategic approach to accomplishing goals, addressing issues, and successfully implementing assignments.
  • Develop and provide training for professional staff.
  • Provide mentoring to staff to promote and support professional development.
  • Work with individual staff to provide guidance and direction regarding workload control and prioritization.
  • Provide performance management to staff.
  • Direct, guide, and provide information to staff for successful engagement in land use planning and development.

Perform program strategic planning. Tasks include: 

  • Assist Senior and Executive Management in Program or Agency level short-term and long-term strategic planning.
  • Work with Environmental Permitting Manager and other Program staff to develop and bring permitting perspective to Program/Agency strategic planning.
  • Communicate and encourages support for the strategic direction identified by the Program and/or Agency.
  • Act on behalf of the Environmental Permitting Manager when needed.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Work Setting, including hazards:   
    1. Work is performed in an office setting, at construction sites, and in-water locations (e.g. hatcheries and wildlife areas). Work requires walking in uneven terrain with slippery footing, in mud, and other challenging field conditions such as steep slopes for extended periods of time, working in inclement weather conditions, climbing ladders, working from boats, and in elevated locations.
    2. Physical, environmental, or mental demands of key work require the ability to drive a vehicle to conduct field reviews of project sites, work in remote forested and aquatic environments conducting fish surveys and other related tasks.
  • Schedule:   
    1. Typically, Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM. Work may require additional hours to meet business needs. Flexible and/or remote work will be considered at the incumbent’s request, subject to supervisory approval.
  • Travel Requirements: 
    1. Travel may compromise up to 20%. Travel is required throughout the state to attend trainings, meetings, and conferences, and field visits.
    2. Periods of overnight travel may be required.  
  • Tools and Equipment: 
    1. Electroshocking equipment, boots, GPS, clinometer, digital camera, state-assigned work vehicle.
  • Customer Interactions:
    1. Interacts with agency staff, other government agencies, tribal, private stakeholders, and the general public.

Closely related qualifying experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-by-year basis.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • An Associate’s degree with an emphasis in fisheries, wildlife management, natural resource science, or environmental science.

AND

  • Six (6) years of professional experience in fish management or fish research, wildlife management or wildlife research, habitat management or habitat research, natural resource planning, or an equivalent field.

 

OR 

  • A Bachelor’s degree in fisheries, wildlife management, natural resource science, or environmental science.

AND

  • Four (4) years of professional experience in fish management or fish research, wildlife management or wildlife research, habitat management or habitat research, natural resource planning, or an equivalent field.

Please Note: 

  • A Master’s degree in fish management or fish research, wildlife management or wildlife research, habitat management or habitat research, natural resource planning, or equivalent field may substitute for one (1) year of experience.
  • A PhD. in fish management or fish research, wildlife management or wildlife research, habitat management or habitat research, natural resource planning, or equivalent field may substitute for two years of experience.
