Position Title
Master of Environmental Studies Aquatic Vertebrate Ecology (Adjunct, Fall 2023)

Job Summary
Evergreen’s Graduate Program on the Environment, which awards the Master of Environmental Studies (MES) degree, seeks a faculty colleague to help students understand the biology, ecology, and conservation of aquatic vertebrates in the Pacific Northwest region. This faculty member will teach an elective on this subject in Fall Quarter 2023. Teaching responsibilities will include lectures, workshops, seminar facilitation, and evaluation of student work. The teaching mode will be either be hybrid (combination of in person and zoom) or fully in person.

A successful candidate must be able to teach foundational material and advanced topics in the field of aquatic vertebrates, which might include salmon biology, marine mammal biology, or other aspects of this field.

This is a one-quarter adjunct faculty position dedicated to graduate students, with primary teaching responsibilities in the evening.

This is an adjunct faculty position and is not eligible for continuing appointment. All requirements for these positions must be completed at the time of hire. Job Expectations
Faculty are generally responsible for evaluating 15 students per MES elective, per quarter. Faculty are also responsible for advising students in their respective area(s) of expertise regarding skill development and career opportunities and possibilities.

Minimum Qualifications
MA/MS or equivalent in biology, ecology, or conservation related discipline with five years of experience working in aquatic vertebrate biology, ecology, or conservation OR PhD in biology, ecology, or related discipline

Preferred Qualifications

  • College or graduate level teaching experience
  • Research record in aquatic vertebrate biology, ecology, or conservation
  • Leadership or management roles in aquatic vertebrate biology, ecology, or conservation
