The Air Quality Program (AQP)  within the Department of Ecology is looking to fill an Air Quality Planner (Environmental Planner 3) position. This position is located in our Headquarters Office in Lacey, WA.

In this role, you will be on the front line of developing air quality policy for the State of Washington. You will get to work with scientists, engineers, economists, other planners, and communication experts as part of a team to develop air quality rules and plans. In addition, you will consult with Federal Environmental Protection Agency staff to maintain Washington’s State Implementation Plan (SIP), and engage with Washington industry, environmental justice, and local government stakeholders in the creation of rules and plans.

Required Qualifications:

Option 1: A Bachelor’s degree with major emphasis in land use, urban, regional, environmental, or natural resource planning, landscape architecture, geography, land use or environmental law, public administration with an environmental emphasis, or closely related scientific field.

AND

Four years of professional experience in land use, urban, regional, environmental, natural resource, or public policy planning, environmental permitting, air quality monitoring, engineering, and/or program development.

Option 2: A Master’s degree or above with major emphasis in land use, urban, regional, environmental, or natural resource planning, landscape architecture, geography, land use or environmental law, public administration with an environmental emphasis, or closely related scientific field.

AND

Two years of professional experience in land use, urban, regional, environmental, natural resource, or public policy planning, environmental permitting, air quality monitoring, engineering, and/or program development.

OR

Option 3: One year of experience as an Environmental Planner 2 with the Department of Ecology, provided the candidate has attained at least a Bachelor’s degree.
