Salary- $62,748.00 – $82,344.00 Annually

What you will do:

  • Evaluate the type and calculate quantities of potential air emissions from industrial facilities.
  • Make determinations on regulatory applicability, best available control technology, and emission restrictions based on engineering and technical evaluations of project proposals.
  • Write Notice of Construction approval orders and coverage orders for General Orders and associated technical support documents for review and approval by a licensed professional engineer and manager.
  • Follow procedural steps for permit issuance including completing State Environmental Policy Act (SEPA) and public involvement requirements.
  • Participate in inspections and conduct site visits to industrial facilities.
  • Review and approve source test protocols, attend source tests, and compare test results with emission limits to evaluate compliance or incorporate results into permit limits for the facility.

Required Qualifications:

Experience for both required and desired qualifications can be gained through various combinations of formal professional employment, educational and volunteer experience. See below for how you may qualify.

Option 1:

  • An Engineer-In-Training Certificate or a Bachelor’s degree with a major study in one of the following engineering fields: sanitary, civil, geotechnical, water resource, environmental, chemical, mechanical or related field
  • Two (2) years of environmental engineering experience.

Experience may include:

  • Review of engineering reports, plans, and specifications
  • Operation and maintenance of environmental systems
  • Performance of engineering inspections or studies of facilities
  • Review and evaluation of permit applications for appropriate engineering requirements
  • Interpreting and analyzing data, including performing mass balance calculations

Option 2:

  • A Master’s degree with major study in one of the following engineering fields: sanitary, water resource, civil, geotechnical, environmental, chemical, mechanical, or related field
  • One (1) year of experience in environmental engineering.

Experience may include:

  • Review of engineering reports, plans, and specifications
  • Operation and maintenance of environmental systems
  • Performance of engineering inspections or studies of facilities
  • Review and evaluation of permit applications for appropriate engineering requirements
  • Interpreting and analyzing data, including performing mass balance calculations

Special Requirements/Conditions of Employment:

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a valid state’s driver’s license.

Desired Qualifications:
