The Shorelands & Environmental Assistance (SEA) program within the Department of Ecology is looking to fill an Administrative Assistant 3 position in our Headquarters Office in Lacey, WA. Upon hire, you must live within a commutable distance from the duty station.
In this role, you will support the agency and program’s mission by providing high-level of administrative assistance and secretarial support to the Environmental Review and Transportation Section staff and Section Manager. You will play a key role in supporting our environmental review and permitting work by assisting professional staff and providing higher-level administrative review and processing of environmental documents.

Program Mission: The mission of the Shorelands & Environmental Assistance (SEA) program is to support community conservation efforts for our shorelands, wetlands, and floodplains.
During Healthy Washington Roadmap to Recovery, employees are working a combination of in-office and/or telework based on position and business need. This position is telework eligible with a requirement of working in the office 1 – 2 days each week.

Duties
In this role, you will work with a team of professionals on a wide array of activities related to Washington’s wetlands, shorelines, marine waters, and more. You will work on a variety of activities that are core to the success of our program and will be working with a team of people who are passionate about their work and are known for sharing their knowledge and mentoring colleagues new to our environmental work.
What you will do:
- Provide high level and confidential administrative support to Section and Unit Manager.
- Assist professional level employees by performing higher-level administrative review and processing of environmental documents.
- Develop section trainings, visual aids, or other guidance materials for various administrative tasks.
- Coordinate hiring and other personnel processes.
- Develop, track, process, and/or administer receivable and payable contracts.
- Create and maintain hard copy and digital files and filing systems for purchasing, correspondence, personnel, and other issues.
- Schedule and coordinate the logistics of various meetings and conference calls.
- Provide back-up support to the Headquarters administrative team and providing other HQ administrative support to staff and managers.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
Experience for both required and desired qualifications can be gained through various combinations of formal professional employment, educational and volunteer experience. See below for how you may qualify.
Four (4) years of experience and/or education –
Experience: in clerical, secretarial, bookkeeping, accounting, or general administration, public administration or closely allied field.
Education: High School Diploma or GED. OR college coursework involving a major study in business administration or closely allied field.
