Compensation Amounts
$1,100 – one time round trip travel allowance (personal vehicle required for off-time).
$400 – weekly living allowance
Health Insurance provided through SCA
$ 6,345 Americorps Education Award

The Yosemite Relevancy, Diversity, and Inclusion Council Internship is an exciting, ground-breaking internship that will involve a variety of duties related to RDI initiatives at Yosemite National Park.
Primary Duties
- Support and collaborate with park leaders to implement, execute, and monitor progress on RDI strategic planning initiatives, with the RDI Council Charter as a guide.
- Serve on all Yosemite Employee Resource Groups (ERGs).
- Establish and support communication channels and strategic planning between Yosemite Employee Resource Groups.
- Communicate with park leaders, park partner organizations, mentor program, human resources, the volunteer program, and others, on Relevancy, Diversity, and Inclusion.
- Facilitate meetings and dialogue events to promote inclusive practice in the workforce.
- Plan and execute initiatives designed to improve recruitment, belonging, and retention for diverse staff.
- Host and support internal and external events for Yosemite’s ERGs.
- Serve as a resource and point of contact for organizational needs and inquiries on diversity, equity and inclusion as well as related training topics.
- Research and share best practices for ERGs to address common challenges related to cultural competence, identity, social differences, and inequality
Experience
- Demonstrated leadership and commitment to DEI in a workforce, student body, or other context.
- Basic understanding and appreciation of the importance of national parks and protected lands, as well as the complex history behind unequal access to parks; with interest in learning more.
- Successful track record of openness, growth, and receptivity to feedback; willingness to learn and question assumptions.
- Some experience with project management and/or facilitation of meetings is desirable.
Qualifications
- Coursework related to Sociology, Psychology, Human Resources, Volunteer Management, Education, Environmental Studies, Communications, Comparative American Studies, or other related field.
- Self-starter with an ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team.
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks.
Conditions of Employment:
Beginning on 1/18/22, all new SCA volunteer program participants are required to be fully vaccinated. Full vaccination is defined as having received a booster shot six months after the Pfizer and Moderna primary series and two months after the Johnson & Johnson primary series.
