Duration: 10 – 14 Weeks, September – December 2021 (start and end dates flexible)

Schedule and Compensation: 10 – 20 hours per week; $15.20 per hour

General Description:

LCV believes our earth is worth fighting for because everyone has a right to clean air, water, and a safe, healthy community. To ensure those rights are protected, we help people use their power to shape policy, hold politicians and polluters accountable, and influence elections.

For more than 50 years, LCV has grown into a potent political force for protecting our planet and everyone who inhabits it. We have built a powerful national movement with 30 state affiliates, and grassroots and community organizing programs across the country.

LCV is hiring a Research Intern based in the Campaigns department who will support the Research Director with a range of research projects, from local media scans to research on members of Congress, in support of our issue advocacy campaigns. The Research Intern will also gain experience in state and local priority issues, supporting efforts to advance unified, movement-wide goals and priorities across the 30+ Conservation Voter Movement (CVM) state affiliates. This position will work closely with members of the Campaigns, Communications, and Government Affairs teams on long-term and short-term research projects and analyze research to further advocacy campaigns.

Intern Will Gain Experience in:

●       Advocacy campaign structure and how campaigns utilize research to move towards their goals.

●       Organizing material in a comprehensive and accessible manner for team members, including members of the executive team.

●       Research involving members of Congress and, potentially, political candidates.

●       Maintaining self-driven research projects from start to finish.

●       Incorporating racial justice and equity into research and ensuring these principles are applied throughout team processes.

●       Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

●       Work Experience: 6 months administrative support work, including internship experience preferred.

●       Skills: Highly organized; strong attention to detail; excellent written and oral communications skills; strong research skills; exhibits solid judgment; critical thinking skills; able to work independently and as a team; able to handle multiple tasks; self-starter; proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Suite.
