Works with refuge staff to gain experience in habitat restoration, biological surveys, and visitor services/facilities. This position is stationed in Bandon, OR at Bandon Marsh National Wildlife Refuge.

Duties include:

  • Identify, monitor, map and remove invasive plants to improve habitat conditions
  • Participate in the restoration project at Crook Point (requires camping at a remote field site with no running water or electricity, ~1-2 nights/week)
  • Conduct weekly nest monitoring of black oystercatchers and other on-going seabird research projects
  • Assist with native pollinator garden activities
  • Assist Shoreline Education for Awareness with on-site interpretation and education for visitors on the seabirds and marine mammals of Oregon Islands Wildlife Refuge

Requirements: 

  • B.Sc. preferred or some undergrad coursework in biology, natural resources, park management, or related field required
  • U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident under age 31
  • Valid state driver’s license
  • Must be able to work independently and in groups
  • Must have good observational and communication skills
  • Schedule flexibility, including weekend, holidays, and morning/evening shifts
