Must be a graduate school student and may work full time during summer break and holidays, and may work part-time during the school year as approved by the department.

Hours and Duration:
Beginning September 2024 this position is for 12-24 hours per week depending on
qualifications and interest. 

 

 

ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Duties and responsibilities vary depending upon the department and nature of the work
  • Work should relate to projects or assignment that appropriate for the experience level and degree or field of interest of student
May lead a project as assigned:

The employee would conduct research and information gathering to support the implementation housing policies. The employee would conduct research to identify existing restrictions for middle housing arising from private covenants (CC&R’s), create a living database of homeowner associations to aid in outreach and emergency management, and create a living database of non-profit housing providers to aid in accurate affordable housing reporting. The employee would also assist the long range planning team with code writing and editing, creating community educational materials, staffing community events, and creating graphics and web content to implement the Redmond 2050 Comprehensive Plan.

  • Ability to complete projects within specific timeframes
  • Ability to establish working relationships with team members
  • Ability to maintain confidential and sensitive information
  • Ability to conduct research and benchmarking studies and prepare recommendations from findings
  • Familiarity with zoning codes, CC&Rs, and other development-related technical documents
  • Familiarity with Adobe Illustrator, web content creation, and community engagement is helpful.

Ability to understand and follow directions

The following represent the physical demands that must be met to successfully perform the essential functions of this job:
  • Work is generally performed in a typical office environment and involves moving throughout the facility
  • May operate a computer and other office equipment
  • Frequent communication with City employees and customers
  • Move items weighing up to 20 pounds on occasion
Noise level is moderately quiet

  • Enrolled and attending a graduate level program
  • Previous work experience preferred
  • Experience using computer, including MS Office (email, Internet Explorer, Word, Excel), and general office equipment
Software or database specific to field of interest preferred, if applicable
