Salary– DOE

The Council is seeking an intern to contribute to a comprehensive evaluation of the performance of the Council’s Program over the last 40 years. The intern will assist with this effort by compiling information from reports or online sources on specific topics, for example stream and riparian habitat restoration, fish passage and survival data, dam operations, and so on, and entering information into pre-existing databases (or helping to develop databases). The intern will also assist with data summary and visualization in support of the program performance effort.

Specific tasks:

Under the supervision of the Program Performance Team, the intern will participate in the following data management tasks:

  1. Compiling and reviewing a list of projects that implemented the Council’s Fish and Wildlife Program from 1982 – 2004, prior to digital records
  2. Assembling a list of specific actions and research efforts related to hydrosystem operations (1988 – present)
  3. Assisting with compilation, review, and summary of habitat metrics reported in an online database as well as from reviewing paper reports and other information sources.
  4. Assisting with data summary and visualization
  5. Other data management duties, as assigned

Qualifications/skills:

  • Recent graduate, preferably with B.S. in a natural resource field
    • Will also consider applicants in their last year of college. Internship schedule could be adjusted to work around class schedule
  • Skilled in literature review, including paper records
  • Skilled in data entry using Microsoft Excel or Access
  • Detail oriented
  • Self-motivated
  • Organized
  • Good communication skills

Work schedule and compensation:

  • 30 hours per week- preferably completed between the hours of 8 and 5 each day
  • 4-month duration, beginning June 1
  • Hybrid office/telework; office time will be required to review paper documents and reports.
  • $20 – 25/ hour, depending on experience and qualifications
