Internship Description
General farm work tasks include but are not limited to:
- Measuring, mixing and spreading soil amendments
- Seed starting and planting crops
- Irrigation system set up
- Noxious weed management
In addition to farm work, interns will be expected to:
- Equipment/tool use and maintenance
- Tending plants and harvesting crops
- Pest management
- Large scale composting
- Engage with GRuB’s mission and learn about curriculum foundations
- Collaborate and engage with community members and program participants on the farm
Schedule:
- 10-20 hrs per week during GRuB’s operating hours (9am-5pm, Monday-Friday)
Qualifications:
- Must be motivated to work hard, learn a lot, and get dirty, in all weather
- Comfortable working independently and with groups
- Strong professionalism, communication skills, excellent work ethic, and reliability
Physical demands, working conditions, and accommodations
- Interns work outdoors in conditions that can include varying temperatures and weather conditions
- Other physical demands might include lifting up to 40 pounds, walking on uneven ground, using hand tools such as shovels, crouching/bending repeatedly, or spending long periods on your feet
