Farm internship

Internship Description 

General farm work tasks include but are not limited to: 

  • Measuring, mixing and spreading soil amendments 
  • Seed starting and planting crops 
  • Irrigation system set up 
  • Noxious weed management 

In addition to farm work, interns will be expected to: 

  • Equipment/tool use and maintenance
  • Tending plants and harvesting crops
  • Pest management 
  • Large scale composting 
  • Engage with GRuB’s mission and learn about curriculum foundations 
  • Collaborate and engage with community members and program participants on the farm 

Schedule: 

  • 10-20 hrs per week during GRuB’s operating hours (9am-5pm, Monday-Friday) 

Qualifications: 

  • Must be motivated to work hard, learn a lot, and get dirty, in all weather 
  • Comfortable working independently and with groups 
  • Strong professionalism, communication skills, excellent work ethic, and reliability 

Physical demands, working conditions, and accommodations 

  • Interns work outdoors in conditions that can include varying temperatures and weather conditions
  • Other physical demands might include lifting up to 40 pounds, walking on uneven ground, using hand tools such as shovels, crouching/bending repeatedly, or spending long periods on your feet
