The Environmental Services Intern will assist in invasive plant control, native plant restoration, natural resource surveys and project activities at Empire Mine State Historic Park, Malakoff Diggins State Historic Park, and the South Yuba River State Park. Occasional work throughout the Sierra District at other parks may be required. Additional duties include assisting visitor services, GIS mapping, trail and resource management inspections, and office work including creating reports, maps, and entering information into databases. Experience in botany, landscape maintenance, weed-abatement, forestry, and knowledge of California native plants and exotic plants is desired.
Employee will participate in extensive field work in steep river canyons and in thick brush including poison oak during all types of weather including 100+ degree days. The employee must be physically fit and able to walk 5-10 miles a day and be able to operate four-wheel drive vehicles.
This position requires a valid California Driver’s License and a four-year degree majoring in natural resource sciences or related field.
