World Wildlife Fund (WWF),  one of the world’s leading conservation organization, seeks a U.S. Government Affairs Spring 2021 Intern. The Policy and Government Affairs department of the World Wildlife Fund is seeking part-time to full-time interns for to assist with congressional outreach and monitoring, policy research and analysis, and overall support to the team. The PGA team covers a diversity of issues before both Congress and the Administration, and the internship may entail work on policy, legislation, regulations, including direct advocacy with US government stakeholders. Research and analysis may include preparing briefs on new Members of Congress and U.S. government agencies’ roles, policies, and positions on issues relating to WWF’s mission and priorities. Advocacy and outreach support may entail covering and reporting back on congressional hearings and markups, contacting congressional offices on behalf of WWF, and attending or preparing staff for congressional, administration, and/or NGO coalition briefings. Subject matter will cover many of the issues in which WWF is working with the US government, including wildlife and biodiversity conservation, forest protection and restoration, oceans and fisheries, sustainable food and freshwater systems, climate change and energy policy, as well as congressional appropriations for programs that supporting WWF priorities in these areas.

Internship Description:

• Research, writing & analysis on various topics which may include international conservation funding, food and water security, marine and fisheries issues, wildlife and biodiversity conservation and climate and energy policy
• Legislative tracking and research
• Attend Congressional hearings and briefings, and NGO coalition meetings
• Support outreach to Capitol Hill and the Administration on legislation and rulemaking
• Support WWF advocacy for congressional appropriations
• Support preparations for WWF’s annual constituent Lobby Day in March, as well as logistics and attendance on the day

Only enrolled students are eligible for this internship as you must be able to receive academic credit from your current academic institution. Able to work either part time or full time, depending on class schedule and availability. Please note: This internship is for the Spring 2021 semester.
