What is Industrial Symbiosis?
Industrial symbiosis (IS) is the practice of harvesting waste streams (energy, water, and materials) from one facility to be repurposed as a valuable resource for another. Pioneered in Denmark, IS is a ground-breaking approach to infrastructure and economic development, which can strengthen local economies, reduce waste, and enhance environmental outcomes just by doing more with existing local resources.
