This webinar is a follow up and update to “Driven to Extinction,” our 2023 webinar on tire chemicals and salmon. We’ll take a look at:

• what new science is revealing, 
• what it means for the Columbia River, and 
• a case study from Beaver Creek (a tributary stream in Gresham, OR), where student-collected data are providing important insights into coho salmon mortality and the potential role tire chemicals may play right here in the Columbia River Basin.

Webinar Speakers:

Roy Iwai manages the Multnomah County Transportation Division’s Water Quality Program. He leads several local and regional partnerships around water quality and outreach, and serves as the chair of the Oregon 6PPD-quinone Working Group.

Todd Hanna has been working in fisheries for 40 years, including teaching fisheries courses and serving as program director and as a faculty advisor in the Fisheries Technology program at Mt. Hood Community College (MHCC) for the past 28 years.

Katie Holzer is a Watershed Scientist with the City of Gresham where she conducts studies of stormwater pollution and how to mitigate it. She has a PhD in Ecology and has been studying human/wildlife coexistence for over 20 years.
