Duties

As a Student Trainee (Wildland Fire Management) – Indefinite your duties will include but are not limited to the following:

  • Works with higher-graded firefighters and receives on-the-job training, instruction, and orientation in prevention and preparedness activities.
  • Receives training in the fundamental procedures and techniques of wildland fire management work.
  • Performs duties specific to the crew or module assigned.
  • Performs fireline activities such as line construction, hose layout, operations of pumps and accessories, and mop-up operations.
  • Participates in fuels management projects and prescribed fires.
