Description
Job Summary:
Teach graduate courses related to the field of sustainability. Plan and supervise semester activities that include the following: syllabus creation and semester calendar planning; overseeing class instruction and meeting course objectives; maintaining records on and evaluating student performance; assigning grades both at the midterm and final grade submission due dates.
Compensation:
$1,050 per credit – Masters
$1,150 per credit – Doctorate
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in systems thinking or other fields related to sustainability.
- Doctorate degree in systems thinking or other fields related to sustainability.
- Experience teaching university students in a diverse environment.
- Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Visa sponsorship and relocation allowance is not available for this position.
- Report to work obligations to support the department and may require work during HPU’s winter break, if necessary.
- Must meet training and background check qualifications and comply with the Protection of Minors policy.
- Able to teach classes scheduled during days, evenings, and weekends.
- Able to teach classes at multiple locations on Oahu.
- Successful candidate will be able to work in an environment that utilize excellent time and stress management skills.
1. Course preparation (20%)
- Develop a course syllabus available to students two-weeks prior to start of semester.
- Prepare course website using Blackboard.
- Update course website weekly and post assignments in a timely manner.
- Prepare and deliver course lesson plans weekly and on time.
- Respond to student inquiries in a timely manner (within 48 hours of receiving inquiry)
- Give students appropriate feedback and guidance to assist in learning.
- Return student assignments within an appropriate time frame.
- Submit student grades by both the required midterm and final due dates.
- Actively participate as an effective member of the team by completing assigned duties, accepting additional assignments or reassignments.
