About the Role

Adams County Integrated Health Care Services is seeking an Environmental Health Specialist. This role involves applying environmental public health and safety principles within a regulatory environment. You will provide professional oversight for various programs such as:

  • Food Safety
  • Drinking Water
  • Wastewater Management
  • Land Use and Development
  • School Health and Safety
  • Solid Waste
  • Site Hazard Assessment
  • Chemical and Physical Hazards
  • Living Environment
  • Public Health Emergency Planning and Response
  • Epidemiology

Your work will include surveillance enforcement of mandated health and sanitary regulations as well as public education in these areas.

About You

You are passionate about environmental health and public safety. You have a strong background in environmental sciences, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with diverse communities. Bilingual Spanish speakers are strongly encouraged to apply.

What You’ll Do

As an Environmental Health Specialist, you will:

  • Conduct inspections, assessments, and educational outreach in various environmental health areas.
  • Enforce health and sanitary regulations.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure compliance with regulations.
  • Respond to public health emergencies as needed.

Qualifications You’ll Bring

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Health-related fields such as Earth Science, Food Science, Biology, Zoology, or a closely related discipline.
  • Ability to obtain Washington State Registration as a Sanitarian within two years of hire.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Bilingual Spanish skills are highly desirable.
