Grantmakers play a critical role in the environmental sector and its priorities. However, the role of grantmaking makes it difficult for organizations with limited resources and capacity to access the funding they need to lead their work. Overly complicated applications and reports, limited technical assistance, and short term funding are some of the barriers that exclude organizations from opportunities. As a sector, we must rethink how we allocate funds and ensure that equitable philanthropy is the end goal.
