Science Aide Hiring 2025

Sciences are hiring for the upcoming Fall 2025 quarter!

All positions are open to both undergraduate and graduate students.   A background in a scientific discipline is not required – we encourage all students to apply. Work study is not required for these positions.   We are currently hiring for the following positions:

– Science Support Center Aide
– Laboratory Science Aide I
 
Rate of Pay:
Estimated rates of pay – will be finalized Summer 2025

  • Science Support Center Aide:               starting at $16.66 per hour
  • Laboratory Science Aide I:                    starting at $17.83 per hour


Hours per week:
Variable, dependent on position. Generally, 5-15 per week.

Position duration: 
September 2025 to June 2026

Science Support Center Aide

This position reports to the Science Support Center (SSC) manager and work collaboratively with other student employees to provide excellent customer service to our clients such as SITs, students, and faculty at The Evergreen State College.  This is an entry level position and does not require any college level work within the sciences; essential qualifications include a general interest in science and learning, excellent interpersonal skills, attention to detail.  Science Support Center must be on time, attend all shifts, work well on a team, and provide excellent customer service in a fast-paced environment.  
Typical duties include:

  • Operate the SSC front desk greeting and assisting customers
  • Performing equipment check-out/check-in, point of sales, cleaning glassware and equipment, and other tasks to support lab curriculum needs.
  • Assist in preparing lab requests for programs, faculty, and student projects
  • Daily, weekly, and monthly tasks for upkeep and maintenance of lab facilities

 

Laboratory Science Aide I

This position reports to the supervising Science Instructional Technician (SIT) and works collaboratively with faculty, staff and students to support the laboratory and field science curriculum.  This is an entry level position and successful candidates should expect significant learning on the job.  Essential qualifications include a strong attention to detail, ability to work under minimal supervision, excellent communication skills, and a desire to improve and broaden knowledge and skills across a wide variety of scientific disciplines.
Typical duties include:

  • Prepare and setup equipment, chemicals, and supplies needed to support laboratory curriculum, field exercises, and more.
  • Assisting students, staff, and faculty in setup, cleaning, and return of laboratory equipment and facilities.
  • Maintaining clean and functional laboratory spaces.
  • Performing other duties as required.
