RFP Guidance

NFWF is committed to operating in full compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and Executive Orders. We continuously monitor legal and regulatory developments to ensure our policies, procedures, and operations align with current federal directives. We encourage all applicants to do the same. 

The ability and extent to which NFWF is able to make awards is contingent upon receipt of funds from federal agencies and/or other funding partners. Final funding decisions will be made based on the applications received and the level and timing of funding received by NFWF.

Long Island Sound Futures Fund 2025 Request for Proposals

Proposal Due Date: May 29, 2025 by 11:59 PM Eastern Time

The Long Island Sound Futures Fund is seeking proposals to restore the health and living resources of Long Island Sound. Projects should focus on habitat restoration and stewardship; resilience, water quality and fish passage; education and outreach; or nitrogen and nutrient prevention within the Sound watershed. Learn more

Northeastern Forests and Rivers Fund 2025 Request for Proposals

Proposal Due Date: June 26, 2025 by 11:59 PM Eastern Time

The Northeast Forests and Rivers Fund is soliciting proposals to restore and sustain healthy rivers, forests and grasslands that provide habitat for diverse fish and wildlife populations in the Northeastern United States. Learn more

Monarch Butterfly and Pollinators Conservation Fund 2025 Request for Proposals

Proposal Due Date: June 26, 2025 by 11:59 PM Eastern Time

The Monarch Butterfly and Pollinators Conservation Fund is seeking proposals for projects that protect, conserve and increase habitat for the monarch butterfly and other native insect pollinators. Projects should demonstrate clear benefits to both monarch butterfly and additional at-risk native insect pollinator species. Special consideration will be given to projects benefiting rusty patched bumble bee, Franklin’s bumble bee, Karner blue butterfly, Dakota skipper, Poweshiek skipperling, and Mitchell’s satyr. Learn more

Southeast Aquatics Fund 2025 Request for Proposals

Proposal Due Date: July 8, 2025 by 11:59 PM Eastern Time

The Southeast Aquatics Fund seeks proposals to conserve aquatic habitat in the southeastern United States. Funds from this program will support projects that improve water quality, water quantity, instream condition, and riparian condition. In only some geographies, funding is also available to support aquatic connectivity, species recovery, monitoring, and planning. Learn more

Conservation Partners Program 2025 Request for Proposals

Proposal Due Date: July 15, 2025 by 11:59 PM Eastern Time

The Conservation Partners Program seeks proposals for projects that will accelerate the voluntary adoption of regenerative agriculture principles and conservation practices on private working lands in priority geographic areas. Learn more

Cumberland Plateau-Southern Appalachians Stewardship Fund 2025 Request for Proposals

Proposal Due Date: July 16, 2025 by 11:59 PM Eastern Time

The Cumberland Plateau-Southern Appalachians Stewardship Fund seeks proposals for projects will help accelerate the restoration and enhancement of critical forest, grassland and freshwater habitats in the region, as well as increasing the voluntary adoption of conservation practices on working agricultural lands in the region to benefit wildlife and improve soil health, water quantity and quality, and carbon sequestration. Learn more

Central Appalachia Habitat Stewardship Program 2025 Request for Proposals

Proposal Due Date: July 17, 2025 by 11:59 PM Eastern Time

The Central Appalachia Habitat Stewardship Program will award grants to voluntarily restore and sustain healthy forests, rivers and streams that provide habitat for diverse native bird and aquatic species populations. The overall goal of the program is to improve the quality and connectivity of forest and freshwater habitat to increase the distribution and abundance of birds, fish, and other wildlife. Learn more
