RFP Guidance

NFWF is committed to operating in full compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and Executive Orders. We continuously monitor legal and regulatory developments to ensure our policies, procedures, and operations align with current federal directives. We encourage all applicants to do the same. 

The ability and extent to which NFWF is able to make awards is contingent upon receipt of funds from federal agencies and/or other funding partners. Final funding decisions will be made based on the applications received and the level and timing of funding received by NFWF.

Columbia Basin Water Transactions Program 2025-2026 Request for Proposals

Proposal Due Date: April 22, 2025 by 11:59 PM Eastern Time

The Columbia Basin Water Transactions Program is requesting proposals to enhance and restore aquatic ecosystems for native fish species in the Columbia Basin. This program funds voluntary water transaction development and implementation in the United States portion of the Columbia Basin. The goal of the program is to maximize voluntary aquatic habitat restoration in flow-limited streams critical to the survival and recovery of native fish species, while improving resilience of communities throughout the basin. Learn more

Lower Mississippi Alluvial Valley Restoration Fund 2025 Request for Proposals

Proposal Due Date: April 24, 2025 by 11:59 PM Eastern Time

The Lower Mississippi Alluvial Valley Restoration Fund seeks to award grants to restore, enhance and maintain bottomland hardwood forests and wetlands; implement voluntary conservation practices on working agricultural lands to improve soil health, wildlife habitat and water quality; promote aquatic connectivity; and improve community resilience for people and wildlife. Learn more

National Coastal Resilience Fund 2025 Request for Proposals

Pre-Proposal Due Date: May 6, 2025 by 11:59 PM Eastern Time

The National Coastal Resilience Fund seeks proposals to reduce risks to coastal communities. Projects should aim to enhance, conserve or restore coastal marshes and forests, floodplains, rivers and lakes, dune and beach systems, and oyster and coral reefs that can provide communities with enhanced protection and buffering from the growing impacts of natural coastal hazards and environmental stressors. Learn more

Chesapeake Bay Small Watershed Grants 2025 Request for Proposals

Proposal Due Date: May 13, 2025 by 11:59 PM Eastern Time

The Chesapeake Bay Small Watershed Grants Program is soliciting proposals to protect and restore water quality and habitats of the Chesapeake Bay and its tributary rivers and streams. Projects within the Chesapeake Bay watershed should promote voluntary, community-based efforts to protect and restore the diverse and vital habitats of the Chesapeake Bay region. Learn more

Chesapeake WILD 2025 Request for Proposals

Proposal Due Date: May 13, 2025 by 11:59 PM Eastern Time

The Chesapeake Watershed Investments for Landscape Defense (WILD) Program is soliciting proposals to restore, conserve, and connect fish and wildlife habitat of the Chesapeake Bay and its tributary rivers and streams. Projects should result in direct on-the-ground conservation, stewardship and enhancements of fish and wildlife habitats, and/or enhance the capacity of local and regional partners to implement future on-the-ground actions consistent with program priorities. Learn more

Delaware Watershed Conservation Fund 2025 Request for Proposals

The Delaware Watershed Conservation Fund is soliciting proposals to conserve, restore and connect people with fish and wildlife habitat in the Delaware River watershed. Mojave Desert Tortoise Recovery Partnership 2025 Request for Proposals

Proposal Due Date: May 14, 2025 by 11:59 PM Eastern Time

The Mojave Desert Tortoise Recovery Partnership is requesting proposals to restore, protect and enhance populations of Mojave desert tortoise and their habitat in California’s western Mojave Desert. Priority projects will address the leading factors in Mojave desert tortoise decline such as habitat alteration and fragmentation, environmental change and direct tortoise mortality. Learn more

Long Island Sound Futures Fund 2025 Request for Proposals

The Long Island Sound Futures Fund is seeking proposals to restore the health and living resources of Long Island Sound.
