Ecological Land Services, Inc. is looking for the next great addition to our team! ELS is an environmental consulting firm serving the Pacific Northwest and Southeast Alaska. We specialize in land, water, and shoreline projects involving wetlands, streams, wildlife, habitat, and endangered, threatened, and sensitive species.
We are seeking a full-time Entry Level Biologist/CEO Assistant to support work in the diverse field of environmental consulting. This position is located at our Longview, Washington office with occasional travel to branch offices in Bremerton and Washougal. An ELS Entry Level Biologist/CEO Assistant is responsible for supporting the CEO with a variety of natural resource projects, with a primary focus on environmental permitting, in-field environmental analysis (wetland delineations, stream and habitat reconnaissance), and project management. While technical skills are the foundation for this position, a successful candidate will have great interpersonal skills and the ability to develop technical skills to advance. The Entry Level Biologist/CEO Assistant will be in the role of CEO Assistant for at least two years and then may transition to an Entry Level Biologist. The Entry Level Biologist/CEO Assistant is accountable to the CEO and Longview Office Manager.

CEO Assistant Responsibilities:
- Assisting the CEO with fieldwork, mapping, and data collection
- Writing reports, memos, letters, and other documents
- Managing the CEO’s work schedule and assisting in scheduling
- Tracking and responding to the CEO’s emails, providing frequent updates/reminders regarding
appointments
- Assisting in tracking time, expense entries, and budgeting
- Attending meetings with the CEO, preparing maps, and taking notes
- Driving the CEO to and from field visits and client meetings
Entry Level Biologist Responsibilities:
Office work may include:
- Preparing reports and documents including but not limited to:
- Critical areas/delineation/determination/feasibility/monitoring
- Data sheets
- Wetland rating forms
- Photoplates
- Budgets and cost proposals
- Facilitating figure set development with drafting department
- Preparing and downloading GPS mapping information
- Researching agency databases and gathering relevant background information, maps, and site info, in preparation for fieldwork
- Reviewing local, state, and federal codes/regulations applicable to project needs
- Communicating effectively with project manager, project team members, clients, and agencies
Field work may include:
- Properly recording field data in notebook and on GPS device
- Identifying plants
- Delineating wetlands
- Delineating streams
- Surveying streams and wildlife
- Monitoring mitigation sites
- Attending agency field reviews
What knowledge, skills and experience would you bring to the ELS team?
- Bachelor’s Degree in Science, Environmental Science, or related field or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
- 1 or more years of experience desired in similar or related
- Ability and desire to learn technical and interpersonal skills to be successful in the environmental consulting
