Position Description
This position will develop and implement a monitoring program for the John Day Basin Office and the Conservation Lands Program, which implement numerous conservation and restoration projects that target watershed and habitat recover for anadromous fish throughout the John Day River Basin. This position requires a keen understanding of the socioeconomic context of rural and agriculture land management, and experience with fisheries and ecological monitoring.
- Ideal applicant is experienced in fisheries monitoring techniques, specifically related to watershed restoration project evaluation and long-term effectiveness monitoring.
- Fish identification, with particular emphasis on salmonids is desirable.
- Working knowledge of habitat requirements for mid-Columbia anadromous fish species.
- Understanding of land use and influences on fish habitat.
- Experience in data collection, recording and management.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in fisheries or related field, plus at least three years of experience conducting biological sampling and/or ecological monitoring.
