Job Summary:
King Conservation District (KCD) has an immediate opening for an individual to serve as the Engagement & Communications Program Coordinator. The Engagement & Communications Coordinator oversees a variety of communication, outreach, and event activities across King Conservation District. This role engages the community and encourages conservation through written and digital content such as social media, newsletters, and press releases and through coordinating and supporting tabling and events.
The position reports to the Engagement Program Manager as part of the Engagement Team and works to provide outreach and communications support across KCD programs including Education, Forest Health, Riparian Habitat Improvement, Farm Conservation, and Grants.
Specific Program Responsibilities:

- Write, design, and edit content for print and electronic communications, including newsletters, blog posts, website, flyers, press releases, and annual reports.
- Coordinate outreach campaigns to support and promote KCD programs and projects.
- Design and develop collateral and promotional material to advance outreach activities.
- Coordinate social media content in support of KCD programming and projects.
- Maintain and update the KCD website.
- Collaborate with KCD stewardship program staff on outreach goals and projects.
- Help KCD connect with diverse audiences.
- Develop and maintain communication and outreach templates and forms for the organization.
- Collect data on outreach efforts to evaluate effectiveness and develop communication strategies.
- Facilitate KCD events and tabling including the native plant sale.
- Coordinate the production and storage of digital media, photos, and video.
- Support the development of and adherence to organizational-wide design and branding standards.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Strong writing, editing, and graphic design skills (Adobe Creative Suite).
- Experience overseeing cohesive outreach campaigns.
- Experience managing content for social media platforms.
- Experience with event planning and coordination.
- Basic knowledge of website design (WordPress or similar)
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing with diverse audiences.
- Ability to work cooperatively across KCD teams, partner agencies, and the public.
- Ability to provide a positive experience when engaging with members of the public.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to safely and effectively operate and maintain vehicles, equipment, and supplies in both office and field environments.
Education and Experience:
- 3-4 years’ experience working in marketing, communications, outreach, or graphic design roles. Certifications, training, or degrees in a relevant field may substitute for required experience.
- Demonstrated cultural competency and success providing support to BIPOC and/or historically underserved communities.
Desired Qualifications:
- Natural resources, conservation, or environmental experience is preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- May work in the field for up to 6-8 hours per day away from the office.
- Ability to work in varying weather conditions during outdoor events.
- Ability to drive in and throughout King County using a district vehicle.
- A driver’s license is required when driving district vehicles.
- Occasionally work evenings and weekends.
- Sit or stand for long periods of time in a standard workday.
- Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds at times.
Full-Time, Salary Position:
These positions will start at the hiring Grade 25, Step 1, currently at $68,445.82. After passing a successful 6-month probation, candidates will automatically move to step 2 within the salary band.

Work Schedule:
Full-time, 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday work schedule. Some weekend and evening work is occasionally required. KCD currently supports a hybrid work environment with minimum 2 days required in office each week.
